Patriarch Pavle
Enthronement at the Patriarchate of Peć, 22 May 1994.
For us, the Liturgy is not a performance but the centre of our existence - the place where faith, prayer and music become one. Week after week, feast after feast, generations of singers continue the same mission: to serve the Church with their voices and preserve the tradition of Orthodox choral chant.
Every Sunday, every feast day
For the Choral Society “Branko”, singing is not only artistic expression but service to the Church and the community. Through liturgical chant, feast-day services and sacred concerts, the choir has for generations borne witness to the faith, preserved tradition and passed it on to new generations.
Song is our way of serving - a prayer spoken with the voice.
Through wars and changing states
Through wars, changing states and the hardest of times, the song of “Branko” never fell silent. The Society kept singing even when circumstances were far from peaceful - at services, celebrations and in moments when song was more than music: it was prayer, consolation and a sign of endurance.
Generations of singers came and went, but the choir's service remained the same. It is precisely this perseverance that became one of the Society's most important qualities - to stand by the Church and its people even when times were hardest. That is why the history of “Branko” is not only a history of concerts and honours, but also the story of a song that never stopped.
Wars changed the world around it, but the song of “Branko” never stopped.
Patriarchate of Peć
The Choral Society “Branko” had the exceptional honour of taking part with its chant in the enthronement of two Serbian patriarchs at the Patriarchate of Peć - Patriarch Pavle in 1994 and Patriarch Irinej in 2010. Taking part in these two historic events is one of the most significant honours the Society has received through its service to the Church, and bears witness to the place “Branko” holds in the spiritual life of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
